Normativity is everywhere, but not everything is normative. Just because something is does not mean it should be ought as it goes. Socialists, Marxists, psychoanalysts, scientists, and any determinist sometimes make the error of staying at the descriptive is for too long, and the normative theorist makes the error of skipping over the is, rushing forward, not having an awareness of what the present is and why it is.
