The contrarian, and its more sophisticated form of life, the escapist, can be seen as arising out of a very common desire, the desire to live authentically. With the play metaphor of 29, it is a necessary moment for one to want to escape it. The escapist could be someone who wants to physically leave, to psychologically leave, or spiritually leave. The last is the most interesting one, because they at least recognize the truth that the others are not really escaping, but running way and ignoring.
