I have not been reading or writing as much as I have in the past, and that is not really anything to feel regret over, things change. Each era presents its own opportunities, and one thing I have enjoyed is the restricted time constraints as a way to do something I have been wanting to do, write less. Write less meaning, not as long, similar to the constraints a haiku has. The biggest inspiration has been Novalis or Matt Gasda's substack, specifically the writer's diary series. The introspective process made public is difficult for many reasons, emotionally and authentically (and both reciprocally feed into each other). However, reading them over time made me think that something similar would align with my own interests. I do not identify in any way as a writer, but I do write. I do not think I will use it as something close to a diary either, I barely even use a private diary let alone feel a need at this moment in life to lay anything private out into the world. What I do identify more closely still with is something like a philosopher, or one who philosophizes. The aphoristic or short essay is not very popular in philosophy, but I think in the interest of a general and personal corrective to philosophizing, along the same lines of an Aristotelian mean, it would be fruitful to try it out.
