I would much rather prefer an author that is attempting to be upfront with the direction of the way they want things to go, instead of one who thinks it magically unfolds before our eyes as if God was speaking through us. Vernunft is important, but it is just as dogmatic to cast aside the role Verstand has in our thought. To pretend you are above it, that you have unmediated access to Vernunft is deception and self-deception. The opposite tendency is to think you can control the reaction and effects your writing should have. Recognize our tendencies, correct course.
